ETHIOPIA REPORT FROM OUR PRAYER DIRECTOR

Signs and Wonders!

Evidence of the overwhelming love and compassion of God for "the least of these"

Dear JVMI Family,

We have safely arrived at home from our amazing trip to Ethiopia with Jewish Voice Ministries International. We saw over 7, 500 patients at the clinic in Addis Ababa. The eye surgeons performed cornea transplants and the family doctors administered general medical care. They saw thousands of children in Pediatrics. We had OB/GYN's, optometrists and ophthalmologists, but my favorite part of the clinic was the Prayer Room!

Twenty Americans were assigned to the Prayer Room, but several ended up working the gate, triage or pharmacy, so anywhere from 10 to 14 prayer teams were on hand at any one time. The Prayer Room had record numbers this year, counseling at least 1,011 people. Not every counseling session was documented, because some were outside of the Prayer Room and there were even some in the treatment rooms. Of those documented, we counted 446 salvations and 376 manifest healings. On day two, we saw 25 eyes restored and healing for hearing in four people who had been deaf. Several tumors disappeared, and one nine‐year‐old girl who had been lame, had to go to Pediatrics for shoes because the Lord healed her. She walked out of the prayer room! Praise the Lord!

Several tumors disappeared, and one nine-year-old girl who had been lame, had to go to Pediatrics for shoes because the Lord healed her. She walked out of the prayer room! Praise the Lord!

The very first person who entered the Prayer Room on Monday was an elderly Jewish man who was blind. The team prayed for him, and the Lord restored his sight! And then he was radically saved. He wept with thanksgiving in the presence of the Lord. It was so sweet.

There was such a wonderful anointing in the Prayer Room. Jesus was so tangible to all of us. One day a stroke victim came in. She was paralyzed on her right side and asked for healing prayer. She was healed! She got up and began walking around the room. Her son carried her crutch—it was no longer needed. She left praising the Lord and kissing everyone she could. It was so exciting.

An Orthodox man who was in great pain came in with a tumor on his back that was the size of a small lime. He wasn't especially interested in hearing the Gospel, but he allowed us to pray for healing of his back and the excruciating pain. Not only did the pain go away, but the tumor miraculously disappeared as well. He stood up and was pain free for the first time in years. He was so excited that he was willing to hear the Gospel. He was compelled to accept the Lord and profess Him as the true and living God. We were so encouraged by this man's transformation! He walked in reluctant, but he walked out a believer.

The Prayer Team prayed for him, and he lifted his hands to the Lord and gave thanks for his healing. It was amazing to stand back and watch the clouded eye begin to clear right before our eyes!

Our Pediatrician brought a young boy to the Prayer Room who was no more than six years old and completely blind in his left eye. Another of our clinic doctors had already diagnosed him with an incurable eye disease. The Prayer Team prayed for him, and he lifted his hands to the Lord and gave thanks for his healing. It was amazing to stand back and watch the clouded eye begin to clear right before our eyes! We tested his eyesight, and he could read several letters and tell us how many fingers we were holding up with his formerly blind eye. It was amazing to watch. Not only did he get saved, but his two little buddies—friends who escorted him in— received the Lord as well. It was truly heartwarming.

Our lovely volunteer from the UK wrote me an email sharing that one of her favorite days was not so much the miracles of healing, but the many salvations.

She wrote:

"One morning we had eight people come through the Prayer Room, and one after the other, they were all serious about giving their lives to Jesus. This was amazing, and I'm sure there were zillions of angels singing in heaven that morning! We also had three children between the ages of about 7-10, who came in one after the other (they didn't know each other), and all made commitments. It was really moving—made me cry!

"We prayed for a lady with polio who came to the Prayer Room on crutches. After prayer, she was able to walk round the room with a little assistance, but went around about four times without her crutches and said she felt a lot better. She had the biggest smile on her face. I think this was a partial healing.

"After we prayed for a lady who was totally blind, she said she could see outlines of things and was able to touch our noses! I think it was similar to the story in the Gospels when they saw trees walking!

"There is so much more to tell, but I could write pages! Thanks so much for all you did that week and for leading the team so well. It was a privilege and honor to be there. I hope your prophetic gift is still getting sharpened!"

As you can tell, Lorraine was genuinely moved by the Lord's anointing for salvations. Each salvation is a miracle of God. The Lord is supernaturally moving on each of these people and revealing His Holy Spirit to them. It is truly exciting to be a witness to these awesome experiences as they take place in a person's life.

I heard her scream, "Jesus is Lord, King of Kings!" She said it at least three times. Not knowing her story, I thought nothing of it until the interpreter told us that she was speaking in tongues—and it was in English!

On the last day a woman came into the Prayer Room while the entire team was on a lunch break. Our 80‐year‐old "Eunice," as we affectionately dubbed her, was in the room with a few of our interpreters and me. The woman wanted prayer, and we began to minister to her. After hearing the Gospel, she received the Lord and was profoundly moved. The Spirit was all over her, and she began to yelp and jump and flail all over the place. I couldn't tell whether this was a manifestation, or if it was the work of the Lord. So I went over to her and the group to determine what was really going on. Just as I did, I heard her scream, "Jesus is Lord, King of Kings!" She said it at least three times. Not knowing her story, I thought nothing of it until the interpreter told us that she was speaking in tongues—and it was in English!

After she calmed down and we could interview her, she revealed that she did not know any English at all, but she felt in her spirit that she was saying, "Jesus is Lord." It was truly a miracle and an encouragement for all of us in the Prayer Room. God was so gracious to us. He knew that we were tired from a long week and hearing this woman speak in English as her prayer language revitalized our whole team! Later that afternoon, another Ethiopian woman also spoke in English tongues. It was a confirmation that the Lord was really moving on these people. What a miracle! It touched me profoundly. Praise the Lord!

I could go on and on. There were so many miracles and signs and wonders. What was even more amazing was when a man walked over 500K to the clinic. He had heard about the clinic on the radio and came in to the Prayer Room. Although he was initially reluctant, the team began to share the Gospel and how God really loved him. He began to weep and truly wanted to know this God. It was so touching.

The Prayer Team tells another story: "A man came from Wolkite—far from Addis. He had been badly beaten and had not healed properly. He was consumed with great fears and phobias. He received healing for his body. He then received Jesus Christ as Savior. He became so happy that he said he would tell his children and everyone else when he got home. He was very reluctant to let go of our hands. We gave him his first Bible and he was so grateful. He was praising God's holy name and kissing everyone's hands."

So many came into the Prayer Room not knowing what to expect and left kissing everyone as they were filled with the Spirit and transformed by the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of the living God. All of us were praising the Lord the next morning. We didn't want it to end! Everyone was anxious to meet up and continue to pray even on the only morning we could sleep in. Many have said they will come back next year.

What a great crew of people we had. But I have to say, that our Ethiopian team is so loving and gifted. Many of them fasted and prayed for this clinic's success. We owe them and the Lord all the credit and honor for all the wonders that were done in Addis. I am so blessed and humbled by the experience. It was a great and mighty week.

This year we sent prayer teams to pray outside of the gate. We had not done this before and it must been effective, because it was reported that this clinic was the easiest dispersion of the people ever witnessed. We also sent teams every day to minister in the treatment rooms and pray over the doctors. All of them reported that it was like a breath of fresh air for them. It was as though God had walked into surgery. That's God! One of the guys on our prayer team walked into a doctor's office just as a young girl began to manifest. She was so relieved to see a prayer team member come in to help and relieve her so she could continue to see more patients.

Another of our precious doctors let me know that it was so wonderful and refreshing to have prayer teams come into the treatment rooms periodically. He said there had been a real spirit of heaviness over his room that lifted when the prayer team came in and started to pray. Praise the Lord! We just may have to continue to implement this in the future.

For those who haven't heard this story, I will conclude my report with the story of the Beta Israel leader. This man has been in opposition to the Prayer Rooms, so it was amazing when he asked for prayer after the Lord put it on someone's heart to give him a large sum of money for the orphanage he operates. It touched him so. We prayed with him, and the Lord healed his heart. In fact, he had an encounter with the Lord that truly changed him. Of course, God was working all of these things out ahead of our arrival. It is amazing how He used so many to impact the lives of these precious people. If this man gets saved, and we believe he did, then the rest of the Jewish People are sure to follow. Let's pray that they all come into the Kingdom, according to Isaiah 11:11 and Romans 10‐11. "Did God reject his people? By no means!"

Blessings,

Alice and Armando
