In the third chapter of Acts, the apostle Peter declared that we would see “the restoration of all things” before the return of Yeshua (Jesus) to earth. (See Acts 3:19-21.)
Of course, much has already been restored in Israel since the rebirth of the nation in 1948. But this week brought news of a small, delightful addition to Israel’s miraculous story of restoration.
With some generous help from El Al Airlines a flock of rare “Jacob Sheep” will be making a journey from rural western Canada to a new home in the Golan Heights in Israel. These special sheep got their name because, unlike most sheep which are all white, they carry the markings of “spots and speckles” that characterized the sheep the patriarch Jacob raised while serving his father-in-law, Laban. (See Genesis 30.)
The nation of Israel currently has no Jacob Sheep within its borders, and the species is threatened worldwide as fewer and fewer farms are preserving heritage breeds.
Of course, moving a herd of sheep halfway around the world is no small feat. It has required the cooperation of numerous Canadian and Israeli agricultural agencies, and even with El Al donating most of the cost of the transoceanic flight, it will require more than $200,000 in donations from interested well-wishers.
I have remarked in this space on many occasions that the re-gathering of the Jewish People to their historic homeland is a key prophetic indicator that we are in the last days. God’s Word says He will gather His People from the four corners of the earth and bring them back to Israel (Isaiah 11:12).
Could it be that the return of Jacob Sheep to Israel after a 3,000 year absence could be meaningful as well? Peter did say, “the restoration of all things.”
Keeping you and others informed about prophetic developments and equipped to live prudently and victoriously in these volatile last days is at the heart of our mission here at Jewish Voice. Your gifts of support help make that possible, but they do so much more.
When you partner with Jewish Voice you become a vital part of delivering clean water, humanitarian aid, and the Good News of Yeshua to hurting Jewish People across the globe.
