God Sets Us Free

Passover freed the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. Each one among the Children of Israel was born a slave to Pharaoh. They knew nothing else until God stepped in and delivered them.

The Bible tells us we were formerly slaves to sin (Romans 6:6 NKJV). But now that we have placed our faith in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus), we no longer need to serve the master of sin. We have been given a new nature, the nature of Messiah.

Though Yeshua died to set us free from this slavery, we still sin. Sometimes and in some areas, we may continue to obey sin as if it were still our master. As if our ankles still bore its shackles, we let sin hinder and limit us.

We may discover that the leaven of sin we search for at Passover runs deeper than independent incidents of wrongdoing. We may feel captive to some sins. But there is good news! For those who have placed their faith in Jesus as Messiah, He has already set us free. The more we choose to obey God rather than sin, and yield to His Spirit in us, the more we will walk in the abundant life and good plans He designed for us.

Are there any sins or weaknesses in your life you haven’t been able to overcome but instead tend to obey like a slave? God has good plans for you, and His love for you never changes. Ask Him to help you walk in the freedom that is already yours. Ask Him to help you obey Him, know the fullness of His love and see His plans unfold in your life.

Passover Prayer for Day 6

Father, thank You that You are a good and pure Master. Through Yeshua, You have freed me from condemnation for my sin. Thank You for wanting to release me from sin’s influence in my daily life as well. Thank You that Your way for me is the best plan for my life. Help me to trust You to daily free me from the snare of obedience to sin. I want to obey You! Thank You, Yeshua!
