TERROR GROUPS LAUNCH SUDDEN ROCKET ASSAULT AGAINST ISRAEL WHILE IRAN ADVANCES NUCLEAR CAPABILITIES
Early Tuesday morning the sky over Israel was lit up by rocket fire out of Gaza.
Within only a few hours’ time, terror groups along the southern border had fired over 150 rockets at cities and towns throughout the country. And more than 360 have been fired in just two days.
A report from NBC states that "47 Israelis were wounded" in the attack.
The sudden attack came in response to the Israeli strike resulting in the death of Palestinian Islamic Jihad senior commander Baha Abu al-Ata – who is responsible for countless missions and attacks upon Israel in recent months.
The Israel Defense Force is anticipating many days of fighting to occur. They’ve ordered schools to be shutdown. As well as some businesses.
This sudden escalation comes after weeks of mounting tension within the region.
For weeks, Iran and these Iran-supported forces have carried out open operations against Israel.
Israel has responded by conducting airstrikes against rocket emplacements in Gaza in order to force an end to the attacks. However, with the area currently controlled by Hamas, Israel must use caution to not instigate retaliation on multiple fronts.
IRAN IS CLOSER TO NUCLEAR WEAPONS
But late last week, Iran’s President, Hassan Rouhani, announced they’re taking their next steps in activating 30 centrifuges at their underground nuclear reactor facility in Fordow.
Activating these centrifuges within Fordow, built inside a mountain to withstand any air strikes, means Fordow is an active nuclear site.
“IRAN IS POSITIONING ITSELF TO HAVE THE OPTION OF A RAPID NUCLEAR BREAKOUT”
Iran has claimed this facility is strictly for research purposes. But their surrounding violent actions in recent weeks suggest otherwise.
In fact, President Rouhani’s brazen announcement that violates current nuclear agreements is a significant indication that they’re no longer hiding their intentions of pushing forward their military nuclear plan.
And it’s safe to say, if Iran is going public with intensifying their nuclear development, they’re probably also making radical advancements secretly.
In response to the announcement, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said:
“Iran’s expansion of proliferation-sensitive activities raises concerns that Iran is positioning itself to have the option of a rapid nuclear breakout. It is now time for all nations to reject this regime’s nuclear extortion and take serious steps to increase pressure. Iran’s continued and numerous nuclear provocations demand such action.”
“ISRAEL WON’T ALLOW IRAN TO DEVELOP NUCLEAR WEAPONS, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES”
The truth is, an Iran left unchecked is dangerous not just to Israel’s security, but also to the security of the entire world. This development should be a wake-up call.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said regarding Iran’s threat: “I call on the international community to wake up. I call on nations to join the United States and Israel and further increase the pressure on Iran. Iran is a danger not only to Israel and the Middle East. It is a danger to the entire world.”
This is what Israel and her people are up against. And it’s happening right at a time when there’s still so much uncertainty surrounding the establishment of Israel’s government.
JOIN US IN PRAYER
We must stand and support Israel through our prayers. That’s why I’m asking you to join us as we pray for God to:
- Protect Israel and her people amidst the brazen and hostile nuclear threats from Iran
- Give wisdom and discernment to Israeli leaders as they face a significant prospect for war with Iran and its proxies
- Instill peace in the hearts of the Jewish people in Israel during this time of uncertainty
- Move in the hearts and minds of world leaders, Israel’s enemies and the Jewish people, to help them see to the truthfulness of Jesus’ Messiahship – the Prince of Peace
- As a Believer in Jesus, I hope you’ll go beyond prayer and put your support into action by giving a generous gift to stand with the Jewish people – in Israel and around the world.
