Messianic Jewish Chanukah Devotional – 7th Night

December 30, 2016

God is holy and pure. Everything about the Temple exemplified this, right down to the oil that burned continually in the lampstand inside. After Antiochus IV and his armies defiled the Temple of God, only one day’s worth of purified oil could be found. To make more, and to consecrate and purify it, required eight days. The Israelites were eager to present the purified Temple to God once again, and they rededicated it with the only oil ready. God did the rest and made the one day of oil last eight.

Tonight, as we light seven Chanukah candles, we remember God’s purity and recognize that as Believers in Yeshua, we have the Holy Spirit living inside us. He has placed His purity inside us and made us the Temple of God He indwells. What an amazing gift!

Chanukah Blessings

Blessed are You, LORD, our God, king of the universe, who has sanctified us by His commandments and has given us Yeshua the Messiah, the light of the world.

Blessed are You, LORD, our God, king of the universe, who has performed miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time.

Holy, Holy, Holy

“Holy, holy, holy, is Adonai-Tsvaot! The whole earth is full of His glory” (Isaiah 6:3 TLV).

“The words of the Lord are pure words, as silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times” (Psalm 12:6 NASB).

“The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes” (Psalm 19:8 NASB).

God, You are holy! You are pure! Thank You for placing Your Holy Spirit inside those who believe in Your Son, Yeshua. May our lives grow ever more like Him each day so that we do not defile the Temple of Your presence that You have made us. Help us to live lives that glorify You. Thank You for Your purity and goodness!
