Now that the current U.S. Administration has handed the mullahs in Iran a pathway to a nuclear weapon, Iran’s leaders are wasting no time in acquiring the ability to protect that weapons program from an Israeli airstrike.
On Tuesday, Tehran’s defense minister announced the completion of a deal to purchase advanced air defense systems from Russia. Some of the S-300 missiles will be delivered as early as next week. The two began cementing ties immediately after President Obama announced his deal to have sanctions removed from Iran.

Iran will be getting Russia’s latest and most up-to-date missile defense system. In fact, an advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the S-300 air defense missile systems will be upgraded before being delivered to Iran, since the original contract was signed before the international sanctions sidelined the agreement.
It is clear that these missile systems are intended to make it much more difficult for Israel to damage Iran’s nuclear program with airstrikes going forward. Of course, Iran has made it abundantly clear that the destruction of Israel is a key goal.
