U.S. intelligence officials’ confirm that a Malaysian Airlines passenger plane with 285 passengers and 15 crew members aboard was shot down by a surface-to-air missile near the settlement of Grabovo in the Donetsk region not far from the Ukraine-Russian border. With this tragic news, only one day after a Ukrainian military jet went down killing two crew members and six parachuting to safety, we ask you to join us in fervent prayer for the families and friends of every victim of this terrible tragedy. And our prayers must include the Messianic Jewish and Christian communities in both Ukraine and in Russia.
Responsibility for today’s crash remains to be determined, but U.S. Pentagon officials report that the conflict has been escalating along the Ukrainian-Russian border in recent weeks and the weaponry used to down the plane is consistent with Russian technology. If the crash was caused by pro-Russian separatists, it “represents a tragic and dramatic escalation in this conflict,” said Rep. Adam Schiff, D-California. Ukraine’s President Poroshenko said, “We do not exclude that this plane was shot down, and we stress that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not take action against any airborne targets.”
Russia’s President Putin blamed the incident on the Ukraine government, saying they “carry responsibility for this horrible tragedy. We will do everything…to ensure that an objective picture of the events becomes accessible for our public and for the Ukrainian public and the entire world.”
Confusion abounds over the tragedy and we know that the source of all confusion is the enemy of our souls.

- The families of those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy who are experiencing pain and heartache
- The citizens of both sides of this conflict to come to know Yeshua Messiah, who came to give life and life more abundantly
- Skillful and godly wisdom to enter into the hearts of every government official in both Ukraine and Russia and that decisions are divinely inspired by the Lord
- For divine protection over Ukraine, and further preparation of hearts to receive Yeshua as Messiah at the JVMI Festival scheduled to take place this fall
