Is This A Prophetic Fulfillment of Ezekiel 38 & 39?

Most of the world rightly considered it a catastrophe back in May of 2015 when the ancient and historically significant Syrian city of Palmyra fell into the hands of ISIS. Palmyra is a UNESCO World Heritage site and holds some of the most significant ancient architectural remnants in the entire Middle East.

As feared, ISIS soon began destroying and damaging many of these historic treasures with explosives and heavy equipment.

Much of the world expressed relief—or at least nodded in approval—when Syrian government forces, with Russian assistance, drove ISIS out of Palmyra and retook the city a few months ago. But a new report out today has added a sobering footnote to that shift in Syria’s bloody, ongoing civil war.

A U.S.-based cultural heritage research group released satellite images that reveal the Russian military is constructing a new army base on the northern edge of the city—in close proximity to the damaged ancient ruins.

The group is concerned about further damage, but this report is also raising concerns within Israel. In the last year Russia has already taken significant steps to reinforce its naval base on the coast of Syria and, as I reported in this space several months ago, has also constructed a massive new air base in central Syria.

Now the third leg of Russia’s military triad in the region is well underway.

Students of Bible prophecy take special notice of any expansion of Russia’s military footprint on Israel’s northeastern border. Many believe that Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 suggest a future invasion of Israel led by Russia.

Here at Jewish Voice Ministries, we’re standing stronger than ever in our support for Israel and the Jewish People, and we’re using every medium at our disposal to educate, illuminate, and persuade others of the importance of standing with Israel.

We’re also passionate about keeping you and others informed about developments that carry prophetic significance. We want you to be equipped to live prudently and victoriously in these volatile Last Days. Of course, your gifts of support help make that possible, but they do so much more. Your support helps us take much-needed humanitarian aid to Jewish People living in poverty in remote places like Ethiopia and Zimbabwe and elsewhere.

We want you to know how grateful we are for your support. The exciting and life-changing things we do are only possible because of you. We couldn’t do them without you, and we carry you with us as we minister. Thank you so much.
