They’re on their way! The group of U.S. outreach partners came from all over the country to meet up in Washington, D.C. Thursday. Everyone is in high spirits and excited to start their outreach adventure. Masvingo is a new location for us, and even veteran outreach partners are feeling almost like it’s their first trip.

We take dozens of bags of medical supplies with us as we travel. Here’s a look at how Tiffany, one of our International Event Coordinators, shared her room for the night.

After a good night’s sleep and an orientation meeting, the group headed to the airport for the first international leg of their journey.

Team Meeting in DC Hotel

They encountered a little medical emergency while checking in. Sutures, please.

Nurse Christine “sutures” up a torn medical bag in the DC airport.

At Dulles airport in DC, the team is ready to board flight to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where they’ll make a connecting flight to Zimbabwe.

We got a brief update this morning, letting us know the team made it safely to Addis Ababa and that they were just beginning to board their flight to Zimbabwe.

Your prayers make a difference

We treasure your prayers for these medical outreaches. God’s enemy doesn’t like what we’re doing when we bring healing and the love of Yeshua (Jesus) to the thousands of patients and their families that we will meet. The need for medical care is so great, and the need for the eternal life-giving message of the Gospel is even greater. We’d love to have you pray for this outreach – our first ever to Masvingo. You can find day-by-day prayer points here. Also, sign up to help cover this outreach in round-the-clock prayer.  Sign up for a time slot on our Masvingo outreach prayer schedule here.

Something fun to think about

What is our team doing right now as you read this? Ethiopia and Zimbabwe are ten hours later than we are at JVMI headquarters. It’s almost a full am/pm flip for us here in Phoenix, Arizona. When we’re just starting our day at 8:00am, the team has already finished theirs at 6pm local time and are probably sitting down to dinner. Based on your own time zone, what’s happening on this outreach while you’re getting ready for work? Going to lunch? Ending your day? (Use the daily prayer tips for a general idea of how the week is organized.)
