These powerful words from the book of Esther were echoed recently in a letter from JVMI's first full-time missionaries in Zimbabwe when they said, “We are here for such a time as this.” This couple is giving this season of their lives to the work of the Lord and the establishment of His Kingdom in Zimbabwe. We are so blessed and privileged that they have made this sacrificial commitment, and we take seriously our responsibility to lift them up in fervent, focused prayer.
Only in Zimbabwe for a short time, they are already being presented with both challenges and divine encounters. A recent trip into “uncharted territory” is a good example. They went because they felt led of the Lord to go—traveling to another village where they’d been invited to meet with a Lemba tribal chief who is a Believer. There were those who had tried to dissuade them, saying a journey into this area might prove unwise for them. But because of their belief that it was a God-assignment, they prayerfully went, experiencing vehicle troubles along the way, but finally arriving at what proved to indeed be a divine appointment. The Holy Spirit even “wooed” people from a nearby, unrelated meeting to leave their gathering and join in the Messianic Jewish service they were holding with the Lemba chief, his head men and others! Instead of being fraught with transportation issues, the trip home was filled to overflowing with praise and worship as they and those who went with them acknowledged the amazing way the hand of the Lord was on their time there. As they said, “We were definitely supposed to be there! Our time was wonderful . . . we were thanked for coming because as we were told, ‘your presence is greatly needed.'"
Please pray for our missionary couple in Zimbabwe:
In closing their recent letter, they said, “There are many challenges here. Please pray that we will be led by the Holy Spirit in all that we do, think, and say, and that all will see Yeshua shining forth from us. Please continue to pray, and thank you to all the JVMI prayer warriors for your prayers.”
