Prayer Points: You can make a difference by praying for our 2022 Outreaches

January 12, 2022

''

At the start of each year, we go on “scouting trips” to locations we are planning or prayerfully hoping to hold Outreaches. This year, however, will be different than previous years.

For the first time, rather than by staff members from our Jewish Voice U.S. headquarters, scouting will be done exclusively by our Africa staff in partnership with local Messianic congregation leaders. We are excited about these indigenous leaders making local connections and doing the “on the ground” investigative research needed to conduct Outreaches in their own nations and regions.

We covet your prayer support for these excursions. Please intercede for safety, wisdom, discernment, and divine connections for those doing the scouting.

  • In Zimbabwe, the team will be our staff Administrator, Inventory Specialist and the Overseer of the network of Lemba Messianic congregations
  • In Ethiopia, the team will be our Medical Director for Outreaches, Project Manager and two leading pastors from key Messianic congregational networks there

The Zimbabwe scouting has already begun. Please pray for discernment and any follow-up that needs to take place.

  • Pray for the team as they visit areas of some of the new congregations where we distributed humanitarian aid in 2021

The scouting in Ethiopia will take place once inter-city travel restrictions are lifted there.

  • Please pray for the situation in Ethiopia to de-escalate and for wisdom for government officials in lifting those restrictions

As our in-country staff in each nation scouts new Outreach locations with Messianic congregation leaders, pray they will be sensitive to the Lord’s Spirit and effectively:

  • Identify the size of the community, which is not always easy in rural areas
  • Do accurate needs assessment to help inform what type of Outreach we will do
  • Find a viable housing location for participants during the Outreach, whether hotel or camping
  • Find the best site for the actual Clinics
  • Discern the probability of receiving government permissions and authorization

Pray also for:

  • Extravagant favor with authorities, community leaders and people of influence at every potential location
  • Success locating adequate sources of healthy water and food supplies for our Outreaches
  • The Lord to clearly show us where in Zimbabwe that He wants us to hold our March Outreach

Let’s pray:

Lord, thank You that You have raised up trusted staff members and spiritual leaders in Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. Thank You that they wholeheartedly desire to see all Israel saved and Jewish people in Africa not only to come to know Yeshua (Jesus) but worship together in Messianic Jewish congregations. Please prepare them to be sensitive to and reliant upon Your guidance through Your Spirit. May Your favor go before them, and may they be met with divine appointments and confirmations every step of the way. Help them see the potential fruitfulness of each area and not just the giants that might seem to stand in the way. Our prayer is that You would open doors for effective ministry in 2022 in Zimbabwe and Ethiopia. May it all be for Your glory, Lord! In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Field Update - November 2021, Garamwera, Zimbabwe

January 10, 2022

''

Buried paperwork, delayed permits and COVID regulations threatened this Medical Outreach to Garamwera, Zimbabwe. But when the Lord opens a door, who can shut it? God paved the way, and because of your gifts to Jewish Voice, we were ready to respond quickly when everything came together at the last minute for this final Outreach of this year.

It was our first full-scale Medical Outreach in Zimbabwe since before the pandemic, and it was also an important follow-up to our food distribution visit earlier this year. Families were desperate then, and during this Medical Outreach, many thanked us, saying, “You brought us food just in time!” Your gifts further blessed many of these families as we hired them to fill translator and other roles during the Clinic week.

Due to COVID restrictions, we were prepared to help around 2,000 people in the four-day Medical Clinic. But, the Lord had bigger plans for the Lemba of Garamwera. We received permission to welcome as many patients as we could, and you helped us do more than we ever hoped possible for them. We even had to order more supplies mid-week, and God moved vendors to show us remarkable favor in getting us everything we needed to care for the more than 7,000 people who arrived throughout the few days we were there.

The Garamwera Medical Outreach was also the first time in Zimbabwe where the Spiritual Care Ministry was conducted entirely by local ministers. Messianic Jewish congregations you help support manned the prayer area and shared the Gospel with over 2,000 people, resulting in 76 of them professing their faith in Jesus as their Messiah!

The local Messianic Jewish congregations are now making follow up visits to families who received water filters and those who wanted to learn more about Jesus. Please pray for these follow up visits, that the Gospel will continue to be spread and that even more lives will be changed through learning about their Messiah.

Look at what you made possible in Garamwera!

Garamwera, Zimbabwe Medical Outreach

  • 7,163 Patients Seen
  • 204 Family LifeStraw Water Filters Given
  • 666 People Received Dental Care
  • 884 Eyeglasses Distributed
  • 17 Minor Surgeries
  • 2,332 People Heard the Gospel
  • 76 People Professed Faith in Jesus

Thank you for your generosity that enabled such life-transforming ministry to take place.

Anti-Semitism is Too Alive

January 07, 2022

''

The swastika – it’s the most recognizable symbol of the Holocaust and present-day hatred of Jewish people. Those who use it today send the message that they agree with Adolf Hitler’s abominable hatred and beliefs. It’s a symbol that gives hearty approval to Nazi Germany’s treatment of the Jewish people as less than human, stripping them of their property, dignity, fundamental human rights and life itself.

The United Nations designated January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It marks the anniversary of when prisoners in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp were liberated in 1945. Auschwitz was the largest extermination center operated by Hitler’s Third Reich. More than 1.1 million people, including children, lost their lives there.

Anti-Semitism didn’t end with World War II. It’s disturbing to realize that such hatred still exists today, but it does. The evidence is clear: anti-Semitism is all too alive today.

According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), there are hundreds of “hate groups” in the United States, many of which are anti-Semitic, Holocaust-denying and white supremacist.

Debasing Symbolism

The ADL keeps a list of reported anti-Semitic incidents. Out of 48 U.S. incident reports in December 2021 alone, 31 involved swastikas. Of those, 25 were about swastika vandalism on synagogues, public buildings and statues, private homes, parked cars, and city sidewalks.

Incidents weren’t confined to places with large Jewish populations like New York, New Jersey and California. Swastikas were also found in Nevada, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Idaho and Rhode Island.

Sadly, many on December’s list of anti-Semitic incidents took place on high school campuses. Among them were two groups of students, one in Nevada and one in Virginia, who gave the Nazi salute to swastikas. In California, several students took a picture of themselves with swastikas drawn on their bodies.

Swastikas were scrawled on high school bathroom stalls in five states, including three different cases in New Jersey, one of which included the words “Hitler was right.” Imagine being a 15-year-old Jewish student walking into a campus restroom and seeing proof that someone in your school believes you’re not worthy of life.

In Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan, people displayed flags with swastikas on them – on their truck, front porch, or by raising it on a public flagpole and then attempting to disable the mechanism to take it down.

This was just in December 2021. And only the occurrences involving swastikas. Other incidents (below) are even more alarming.

Absurd Blaming

An anti-Semitic organization called the Goyim Defense League distributed flyers blaming Jewish people for COVID-19 in Missouri, Idaho, North Carolina, Texas, Maryland, and three California cities, including Beverly Hills. The group distributed other anti-Semitic flyers twice in downtown Denver, left them in residential driveways in Texas and dropped anti-Semitic banners from freeway overpasses in California and Florida.

Assaults and Threats

In New York, two men physically assaulted a Jewish man wearing an Israeli military sweatshirt, calling him a “dirty Jew.” In Los Angeles, an anti-Semitic letter and a vial containing an unknown substance were found at a synagogue.

What Can We Do? Remember and Pray

We must never underestimate how far hatred can go when it is left unchecked. Keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive is an integral part of combatting anti-Semitism. On January 27, please remember the 6 million Jewish people and millions more who died because one regime deemed them unworthy of life.

On this International Holocaust Remembrance Day, pray for God to bring an end to anti-Semitism. Pray for the victims and those whose irrational hate promotes and perpetuates the inhumanity of anti-Semitism.

Manhunt in Israel continues for West Bank terrorists

December 22, 2021

“For it is You who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness. Psalm 18:28 (NIV)

Shalom, my friend.

As those who celebrate the Christmas holidays prepare to remember and reflect on the birth of Yeshua (Jesus), I’m reminded of God’s light . . .

Jesus Himself said He was the “Light of the world” (John 8:12) who would draw all people to Himself.

Writing this to you, I feel like His Light – the very Light from Heaven – is needed now more than ever. A Light to expose the darkness, to bring comfort to those who live in fear and to guide those who’ve lost their way forward.

That’s why, as you join with us in prayer, I ask for God to reveal the glory of His Light to you and in you now. That you – and His Chosen People – experience the wondrous power and grace of His presence in a special way.

Thank you for standing with us. And for your love of God’s people.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Forced Into Quarantine

The Times of Israel reported that the former Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and 130 others Knesset members were forced into quarantine late last week after four parliamentary personnel were confirmed to be carriers of coronavirus.

According to the media, as reported by The Times of Israel, at least one of the confirmed carriers is suspected to be infected by the Omicron variant.

Netanyahu has been forced into quarantine several times since the start of the pandemic over exposure to sick staff members. And his Likud party released a statement saying, “The former Prime Minister is acting in accordance with the guidelines and is waiting for the results of the tests.”

The latest Health Ministry coronavirus figures released late last week, according to The Times of Israel, showed 854 new COVID-19 cases diagnosed, the highest daily figure in some two months.

Officials sense the pandemic is on an upward trajectory in Israel once more amid concerns over the spread of the Omicron variant.

The Times of Israel reports that Omicron has dominated policy talks, leading Israel to shutter its borders again to most foreigners and impose fresh restrictions on Israelis returning from countries with high infection rates.

U.S. Plans To Reopen Palestinian Consulate in Jerusalem Stalls Amid Israeli Opposition

It’s been several months since U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken notified Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of the Biden administration’s plan to reopen the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem.

According to The Times of Israel, Washington has yet to even produce a timeline for when it plans to see the move through.

But the U.S., under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, told The Jerusalem Post late last week that the U.S. is still determined to reopen the Jerusalem consulate for the Palestinians and that officials are in dialogue with Israel about it.

Nuland further said that reopening the consulate is seen as a priority for the Biden administration. This, she explained, would be a return to the longtime status quo.

The Israeli government, and some opposition members, have been vocal against reopening the consulate that was shut down in 2019 by former U.S. President, Donald Trump.

Manhunt Continues For West Bank Terrorists Responsible For West Bank Shooting

YnetNews reported late last week that hundreds of Israeli soldiers and officers continued the manhunt for the terrorists responsible for the deadly West Bank shooting in which one Israeli man was killed and two others were wounded.

The attack took place Thursday evening when Yehuda Dimantman – a yeshiva student and father of one – and two of his friends were fired upon as they left the Homesh outpost.

Law enforcement officials said the attack was probably planned in advance and perpetrated by more than one person.

Emergency services personnel reported that Dimantman succumbed to gunshot wounds while being rushed to the hospital.

“Security forces, the IDF, the Shin Bet, the Police and other forces are working on intelligence in the pursuit of the killers. We will see them caught,” said IDF Central Command’s chief, Major-General Yehuda Fuchs.

“We are responsible for the [people’s] protection and we will do everything we can to provide that protection to the residents in the area and catch the killers and terrorists who carried out this attack,” he added.

Let Us Pray Together

Please pray with me for:

  • God’s comfort to be with all who are grieving and living in fear in the wake of the recent West Bank attack
  • God to move in the hearts of world leaders and the global threat of a nuclear Iran as Israel prepares for war
  • God’s protection to be upon His people in Israel who are constantly facing threats and violence from enemies who hate them
  • Peace in the hearts and minds of the people of Israel and their enemies
  • Jewish people to recognize Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah

We are grateful for you! Thank you for praying

Lead and guide us as You make Your salvation known to Your Chosen People and all the peoples! In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Israel prepares for war with Iran

December 17, 2021

ADONAI is my Shepherd, I shall not want..”
Psalm 23:1 TLV

Shalom, my friend.

As tensions continue to increase, as the rumors of war move ever closer to reality . . . we may feel the tension of uncertainty and the fear of the unknown.

But we have hope.

We have hope that we’ll never be alone, that we’ll never lack, that we’ll never be left to the mercy of our struggles and difficulties, that we’ll never be without a shepherd – The Shepherd.

The Shepherd who is watching, waiting, leading and guiding. That’s the promise from the Scriptures for you today.

That’s why it’s to Him that we turn to now and ask for His protective presence to be upon all of us – and upon His Chosen People. Please join with us in praying for peace and the safety of Israel and the Jewish people.

Thank you for standing with us. And for your love of God’s people.

HISTORIC MEETING BETWEEN ISRAEL’S PRIME MINISTER AND UAE’S CROWN PRINCE

The Jerusalem Post reported earlier this week that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and United Arab Emirates (UAE) leader Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) met earlier this week on Monday in Abu Dhabi.

This historic meeting marks them as the first leaders of their respective countries to meet. And as reported, Prime Minister Bennett is very optimistic that the UAE-Israel relationship, established in August 2020 as the Abraham Accords, will set an example that will be followed throughout the region.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Prime Minister Bennett told reporters, “We held deep, honest and significant conversations. We spoke about the relative strengths of the two countries, and our goal is to broaden the connection so that there will not only be peace between leaders but peace between peoples.”

Bennett’s visit comes as world powers continue negotiations in Vienna with Iran over its nuclear program, and Israel fears the U.S. will lift sanctions without exacting major concessions from Tehran.

Meanwhile, according to The Jerusalem Post, Abu Dhabi has taken steps toward warming relations with its neighbor Iran, including an invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit the UAE and meet with MBZ. Last week, Emirati National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed met with Raisi in Tehran.

ISRAEL’S DEFENSE MINISTER PRESENTS ATTACK PLAN AGAINST IRAN TO U.S. OFFICIALS

The Jerusalem Post reported that Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken late last week.

As reported, the conversations focused mainly on Iran and its continued pursuit of nuclear capability. This meeting comes at a time when, reportedly, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have intensified planning for an attack against its arch enemy.

Last week, U.S. sources revealed that Austin and Gantz were expected to discuss joint military preparations. And that Gantz updated U.S. officials with a deadline for when the IDF will need to complete preparations for an attack against Iran.

According to the report from The Jerusalem Post, and confirmed by a senior diplomatic source, the U.S. officials did not voice opposition to the Israeli preparations when presented with the date by Gantz.

It’s no secret that the U.S. and Israel are increasingly at odds in their evaluation of the Iranian threat. Israeli officials continue to be deeply concerned that in the recently resumed negotiations in Vienna, Washington will seek an interim deal that will lift sanctions on Tehran while insufficiently restricting its nuclear program.

Gantz further told reporters following last week’s meetings that he thinks the fate of the negotiations in Vienna would be determined in the near future. “I think that in the coming weeks we will know where we stand,” Gantz said.

LET US PRAY TOGETHER

Please pray with me for:

  • God to move in the hearts of world leaders and the global threat of a nuclear Iran as Israel prepares for war
  • God’s protection to be upon His people in Israel who are constantly facing threats and violence from enemies who hate them
  • Peace in the hearts and minds of the people of Israel and their enemies
  • Jewish people to recognize Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah

Bringing Clean Water to the Lost Tribes of Israel

December 15, 2021

''

Why We Choose Filters Over Wells

Clean water is critical to life and good health. According to the World Health Organization, the third leading cause of death among children under 5 years old is directly related to contaminated drinking water. Worldwide, 144 million people rely on collecting untreated water from lakes, ponds, rivers and streams for drinking and cooking. Among them are many Jewish people from the Lost Tribes of Israel that we serve in Africa. Thus far, Jewish Voice has worked mainly in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe, and we have found that we can meet that the need for clean water most effectively in Zimbabwe.

As a ministry that meets humanitarian needs in order to show the love of Jesus and open hearts to hear about Him, Jewish Voice is reaching out to bring clean water to members of the “Lost Tribes of Israel” primarily through the distribution of water filters. Why filters and not wells? Here are two significant reasons.

1. Hijacking

After an organization digs a well for a community, a person or group often takes control of the well for personal gain and to exert power over the people. They can charge outrageous fees to use what was meant to be a gift. Through intimidation and threats of violence, they often deepen the oppression of a people intended to receive relief.

2. Disrepair

Wells need attention. Things break and sometimes quit working altogether. It’s essential to find the right person to remain a point of contact for maintenance. This can be a difficult challenge in a new area where we have no established relationships. Without an ongoing relationship with a designated, committed caretaker in the community, a well can fail, and the funding organization will know nothing about it. For instance, in Wolkite, Ethiopia, where we held a Medical Outreach for the first time in 2021, we learned of a well that was dug by another organization but hadn’t functioned in six years. We fixed it for the community and discovered the problem 80 meters below ground. Without knowledge and money for maintenance, a well can remain in disrepair indefinitely.

We’re not opposed to wells

We are not opposed to digging wells for members of the Lost Tribes of Israel. In fact, we have done so in Zimbabwe, placing the wells under the care of designated Messianic Jewish congregations to ensure their maintenance and that they remain gifts to the communities.  This has been an effective arrangement in many cases, and we will continue to drill new wells there as we are able to meet the need.

Filters do the job

When Jewish Voice conducts a large-scale Medical Outreach, we also distribute LifeStraw® water filters that clean water right in the home or at a community center. When we return to an area, many people tell us they no longer feel chronically sick since using the filter. LifeStraw® water filters remove 99.999999% of bacteria, parasites, and viruses that lead to chronic and sometimes life-threatening diseases. We distribute two sizes: Family and Community. A Family LifeStraw unit filters three to five years of water for a family, and a Community LifeStraw® cleans 26,000 gallons of water to improve the health of an entire community.

We also include a water education program along with the filter distribution. During the classes, people learn about the importance of clean water and hygiene to prevent disease. After one class, a woman stood up immediately, saying, “Thank you. We never knew these things.”

Yet, there is another kind of “water” that gives life.

Filters open spiritual doors for the Lost Tribes of Israel

Jesus promised that those who believed in Him would have rivers of living water flowing inside them (John 7:38). As we bring humanitarian aid to open hearts to this living water of Jesus, we have found that prejudice against the Jewish people can be so strong as to try to keep them away from our Outreaches. We’ve seen deliberate miscommunication of Clinic dates and even the blocking of roadways to prevent Jewish people from receiving the services we’ve brought to an area for their benefit. So, we started the Living Waters program.

Through the Living Waters ministry tool, we bring both healthy, life-giving drinking water and the living water of the Gospel right to the Jewish villages. This guarantees that we’re able to effectively serve our target community. Local Messianic congregations then follow-up with the families that received water filters, further spreading the Gospel and developing relationships in the community.

We have found distributing water filtration units to be an effective means of providing healthy drinking water to remote Jewish villages and opening hearts to the Gospel – the living water that provides eternal life.

We are excited about future opportunities to serve the Lost Tribes of Israel. As we expand to reach Jewish communities in other locations and countries, we continue to supply our “ministry toolbelt” with need-meeting tools, whether food, water, medical or other needs. As we continue addressing the vital importance of clean water in the future, we look forward to engaging further in WASH evaluations (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), education and resources to help the Jewish communities we serve.

Two Israelis attacked in the West Bank

December 10, 2021

“Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love Adonai your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (TLV)

Shalom, my friend.

The words from the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-5), the central command of the Jewish faith, are a tremendous reminder for all of us during this holiday season.

There are so many uncertainties that we’re facing in our own experiences and as a global community. It can all feel heavy and burdensome in our hearts and lives.

But that’s the whole purpose of the Shema – the command of God for His people to turn their hearts towards Him. More than that, to make Him central in everything we do, think and feel.

This week, as you pray for Israel and the Jewish people, I encourage you to meditate on the Shema and to ask God to move in your heart and soul that you may experience what it means to truly “love Adonai.”

Thank you again for praying with us and for us.

TWO ISRAELIS ATTACKED BY PALESTINIAN MOB

Ynet News reported last week – and IDF (Israel Defense Forces) officials confirmed – that two Israelis were attacked by a Palestinian mob after mistakenly entering the West Bank by car.

The two Jewish victims, according to Ynet News, were attacked at the city's Al-Manara Square by local youths in Ramallah. It is believed that the attackers identified the Israelis as Jews based on their Orthodox appearance and proceeded to loot their vehicle and eventually set it on fire.

Ynet News reported that one eyewitness said the Israelis “survived a certain death” after Palestinian police rescued the pair.

Once the two had returned to the Israeli territory, they were questioned by Israeli security forces. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said the two underwent a medical examination and did not require hospital treatment.

TOP ISRAELI INTELLIGENCE CHIEF VOWS THAT IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS

The Times of Israel reported last week that it’s Mossad (Israel’s national intelligence agency) Chief David Barnea vowed Iran will never have nukes. Barnea’s vow was issued at a ceremony at the President’s residence honoring exceptional Mossad agents.

According to The Times of Israel, Barnea addressed the current nuclear discussions, saying that a bad deal between world powers and Iran is “intolerable” for Israel . . .

Barnea, as reported, continues:

“It’s clear that there’s no need for uranium enriched to 60% for civilian purposes. There’s no need for three enrichment sites. There’s no need for thousands of active centrifuges – unless, that is, there is an intention to develop nuclear weapons.

“Iran is striving for regional hegemony, wages terrorism that we are blocking every day around the world and is continuously threatening stability in the Middle East.

“Our eyes are open, we are prepared and we will do, with our partners in the security establishment, everything that is necessary to alleviate the threat against Israel and thwart it by any means.

“Iran will not have nuclear weapons – not in the coming years, not ever. That is my promise, that is Mossad’s promise.”

U.N.’S “JERUSALEM RESOLUTION” ATTEMPTS TO REBRAND THE TEMPLE MOUNT TO AN EXCLUSIVE ISLAMIC SITE

The Jerusalem Post reported last week that the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) approved a resolution that disavowed Jewish ties to the Temple Mount, calling it solely by its Muslim name of al-Haram al-Sharif.

According to The Jerusalem Post, the text – referred to as the “Jerusalem resolution” – is part of a push by the Palestinian Authority and the Arab states across the U.N. system to rebrand Judaism’s most holy site as an exclusively Islamic one.

Located in the heart of Jerusalem’s Old City, it is where the ancient Jewish Temple stood 2,000 years ago, and it is the home of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound which is Islam’s third holiest site.

“It is morally, historically and politically wrong for members of this body to support language that denies” both the Jewish and Christian connections to the Temple Mount, the U.S. envoy told the UNGA as reported by The Jerusalem Post.

The Palestinian Ambassador to the U.N., Riyad Mansour, thanked those who supported the Jerusalem text, noting that it was “an appropriate and needed resolution to give hope and support to our people.”

According to The Jerusalem Post, Mansour further called on the U.N. to accept Palestine as a member state and to hold Israel accountable for its refusal to withdraw to the pre-1967 lines, so that a two-state resolution to the conflict can be implemented.

Israel’s Ambassador to the U.N., Gilad Erdan, accused the Palestinians of attempting to erase Jewish history:

“The hypocrisy of these resolutions is truly outrageous. A resolution about Jerusalem that does not refer to its ancient Jewish roots is not an ignorant mistake, but an attempt to distort and rewrite history!”

Let Us Pray Together

Please pray with me for:

  • God to move in the hearts of world leaders and the global threat of a nuclear Iran
  • God’s protection to be upon His people in Israel who are constantly facing threats and violence from enemies who hate them
  • Peace in the hearts and minds of the people of Israel and their enemies
  • Jewish people to recognize Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah
