“But for me, it is good to be near God.” (Psalm 73:28a TLV).
At Sukkot, we celebrate not only God’s presence with the Israelites in the wilderness, but also his presence with us today as His Holy Spirit dwells in all who have professed faith in Messiah Yeshua.
If you have placed your faith in Yeshua, you are likely to have an intellectual certainty of God’s love for His people. But what about a deep, heart-level confidence in His love for you specifically? Many Believers struggle with an assurance of God’s love for them personally. Some Believers may feel the burden of not measuring up and may worry that God is disappointed in us.
Scripture tells us that God is love itself (1 John 4:8) and that He delights in steadfast, unchanging love (Micah 7:18 ESV, NASB, RSV). He never withholds His love from us. And, through His Spirit, God is always with us. He has promised He will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
That means His love is forever present, ready for us to receive, believe and rest in. Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Messiah Yeshua our Lord (Romans 8:39).
He designed you. He knows you. And He loves you. You – just as He made you, even with your weaknesses and even as you fail. He loves you with an everlasting love.
Let that sink in afresh today, deep in your heart.
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness” (Jeremiah 31:2b TLV).
“Though the mountains depart and the hills be shaken, My love will not depart from you” (Isaiah 54:10a TLV).
